Sourcefit EmpowerED: Nurturing the youth for greater workplace opportunities

September 12, 2025

Sourcefit successfully launched one of its most ambitious programs called “EmpowerED,” a multimodal learning program that is carefully designed to inspire and prepare students in the Philippines for the workplace. Guided by our commitment to be a socially conscious business, our Training and Quality team has planned and designed this program to encourage students’ career aspirations, provide tools to help achieve them, and improve their access to ongoing learning and skills development.

EmpowerED: More than just a learning platform

According to the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd), only 41% of Filipinos are satisfied with the senior high school curriculum, pointing to its efficacy in preparing learners for higher education or the workplace. DepEd’s strengthened curriculum for senior high school, which aims to prepare students for the workforce by providing learning courses and making mentorship more accessible, aligns well with Sourcefit’s program.

EmpowerED is meant to expand by reaching out to other schools around the Philippines. By sharing resources and giving guidance, students will be motivated to strive for success as this program focuses on developing real-world skills, building confidence in landing entry-level positions, internships and gaining knowledge related to the workplace, including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices. It also helps them expand their perspective on professional paths that can be available to them. The EmpowerED program encourages growth and organizes activities for students to excel beyond academics.

Here are some activities students can utilize:

  • Discussions with subject matter experts (SMEs) on a wide range of topics like AI, technology, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
  • Online educational modules through an AI-powered learning management system are easily accessible via desktop or mobile devices.
  • Students can choose a Sourcefit mentor and schedule coaching sessions on various topics like preparing and adapting to the workplace.
  • Students can learn from real-life experiences to develop practical skills, workplace ethics, and DEI practices through EmpowerED’s internship program.

First look at the Ignite Hub

Cainta Senior High School students exploring the EmpowerED Ignite Hub for the first time.

The Ignite Hub, located on campus and fully dedicated to the different EmpowerED activities, is a room within the school that was refurbished by Sourcefit and fitted with learning tools. This is where students can focus on learning practical and professional skills that they can use in the future. It’s also a place where they can hold special discussions and coaching sessions with our mentors.

The room includes seats and tables for group activities, a platform stage for live presentations, and desktop computers for students to utilize EmpowerED’s educational platform. These tools will help broaden their knowledge for future aspirations and motivate learners to achieve higher goals.

EmpowerED launch day

The launch was held at Cainta Senior High School (CSHS) on June 9, 2025, where Sourcefit’s committee and volunteers gathered to participate and support this event. EmpowerED kicked off with a special discussion called “Expanding Horizons,” which focuses on developing an entrepreneurial mindset in the students and equipping them for success in their chosen career paths. Founder and CEO Andy Schachtel shared his insights on entrepreneurship and his journey to success in building a socially conscious business. At the end of the session, the grade 11 students were given a chance to ask business-related questions.

Between discussions, the students enjoyed interactive activities from the training and quality team, where they applied what they’ve learned to real-life situations. Sourcefit’s Training and Quality Director, Kim Detera, gave the closing remarks, encouraging students to explore their potential further and discover new possibilities in their future careers.

DepEd Rizal’s Public School District Supervisors were also present to sign the memorandum of agreement, which formalizes CSHS’s partnership with Sourcefit. For the final part of the program, a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially reveals the Ignite Hub. Students showed excitement as they were welcomed to explore the learning hub. They were enthusiastic to browse the EmpowerED learning modules while being guided by their educators and Sourcefit committee members, and expressed their gratitude at the end of the launch.

As a socially conscious business, Sourcefit has successfully opened doors to many young Filipinos who are eager to develop skills and potential for their career paths. We extend our passion to making an impact by improving lives and remain consistent in encouraging growth. Additionally, we could not have done it without the great effort and dedication of our teams, committee members, and volunteers who have driven this project’s success.

Sourcefit strives to be one of the top companies that do good for society by helping individuals and communities grow through learning, mutual respect, and consistency. We look forward to establishing more of these programs to encourage growth in other schools, districts, or even countries where we operate in. Together, we can build bigger opportunities for the younger generation. Learn more about Sourcefit and our vision here
